Busy Week!

I will have a post coming about my awesome shower that will include pictures. (I promise!)  I have my 36 week appointment and all is still well.

Thursday: After the 36 week appointment things got a bit strange.  My feet and hands became extremely swollen.  I chalked this up to being 4 weeks from my due date.  I have heard so many horror stories about the last month it didn't phase me much.  I cut out as much salt as I could and used it as an excuse to wear flip flops at work. (Though I didn't have much of a choice.) I also used this as a great time time to get the foot phobic hubs to rub my feet.

Friday: I was still quite swollen but I honestly didn't think much of it.  It was actually quite comical since it didn't hurt and wasn't painful.  Though, I was really sad I couldn't wear my wedding ring.  After work I came home and took a nap.  I woke up at 7ish to take Matthew supper.  I felt nauseous but this too is nothing new for me.  After some shopping for a few things on my before baby list I came home for supper.  I had some potatoes and baked beans before the nausea was overwhelming. I decided to go to bed. (TMI alert now!) I proceeded to vomit for the next 30 minutes instead. At 11 Matt came home and cut me up an apple. I went back to sleep.  At some point I woke up and threw the apple up to.  While vomiting I felt like I pulled a muscle at the top left side of my 'bump.' I went back to sleep.

Saturday:  After a toss and turn night I stayed in bed until noon. (Not really something that should shock you if you really know me.) I got up and got ready for work. I felt nauseous but again at this point I am chalking it up to late no fun pregnancy.  The pulled muscle was killing me and made it hard to breathe. Matt suggested I call my doctor and I told him I would on Monday.  After being at work 30 minutes I decided the pain was bad enough that maybe I should just run it by my doctor.  She was worried that the swelling and intense vomiting are signs of Pre-Eclampsia and wanted me to just get checked out by L&D if I felt any worse.  At that point my pulled muscle started radiating pain. I called Matt and we decided it was best to be safe rather than sorry so we headed in. My blood pressure was fine. (Thank goodness.) My nurse wasn't worried about the pulled muscle but hooked me up to the monitors to check on Corah.  THIS is where things get interesting.  It should be noted that I was not worried about being in labor or having her just the onslaught of symptoms at once after a normal appointment.  I expected the hospital to tell me her heartbeat and my blood pressure were fine and send me on my way.  HOWEVER! After being hooked up to the monitors for a few minutes the nurse says.
"Well, you are having some regular contractions." to which I replied...
"I AM?" In all honesty I was thinking I can't be...I haven't finished childbirth classes OR gotten to that chapter in What to Expect When You're Expecting. My contractions were only 2 minutes apart so she decided to check me. (Oh what fun!) I was about 50% effaced and 2cm dilated.  She told me she would check me in two hours and go from there.  She also ran some blood and urine tests.  I came back positive for a bladder infection which is the likely reason for all the symptoms and contractions. After calming down a bit the pain of the contractions became obvious.  They slowed to 5 minutes apart and lasting about a minute long each.  Even though this is the point that they tell you to come to the hospital they decided to send me home and I had made no significant change when she checked me.  If I was in labor I might as well be comfortable at home. If I wasn't then why was I at the hospital anyway? So, I went back to work for a few hours.

Sunday: I feel ok every once in a while I feel a contraction and its not fun.  I am not as swollen and I am not vomiting. Hopefully, the antibiotic they have started me on will stop labor if thats where I was headed.  I would prefer her to cook a few weeks longer. I have no plans to return to the Hospital until my contractions are so intense that I can't walk or talk through them.  We have however dedicated today to packing our GO bag and getting the rest of the items on our Before Baby list.

I will keep you updated!

PS...I am kinda thinking the 25 days left until my due date are a stretch!
